The ground beneath my feet shuddered with life
Gripping me with a fleeting sense of terror.
Paralysed as I was at the expanse that lay ahead,
The bellowing wind shifted me from my trance
As quietude and unrest engulfed me.
I watched as the mountains heaved
And the forests breathed
And the rivers gushed fearlessly.
Leaves swayed in agreement
As winds whispered the secrets of another
Faraway land, akin to this
As I stood gazing at the sight ahead of me
The once clear image started to blur.
The sky smeared red and yellow
Now appeared dark and grey
It dawned on me that, just like an anchor,
You kept me from drifting.
As the pain of death lingers
And life burgeons in another,
As the cycle of life continues
I will continue to tell the stories of the sky, the land and water,
Of love kept and unkept.
Of us, you and I.
